About Education Magazine Archive‎ (1910 - 2015)
Description: Education Magazine Archive provides access to the digitized backfiles of 26 major magazines and trade publications in the field of education, dating from the early 20th century through to the 21st. These titles were originally aimed at teachers, policy makers / administrators, and other education professionals, but have now become valuable primary sources for scholars across a variety of subject areas. This material offers insights into educational history, theory, and perspectives; it reflects more than a century of evolving trends, issues, values, and practice in areas such as teaching methods, policy / administration, and resources, while chronicling contemporary developments. The publications cover a wide range of educational topics, from general titles (e.g. American Teacher, Times Educational Supplement), to subject-specific publications (e.g. Mathematics Teaching, Technology and Engineering Teacher), titles aimed at educational leaders (English Leadership Quarterly), and material devoted to women and ethnic minorities in education (Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin, Black Collegian). Many educational sectors and levels are represented from early years teaching (e.g. Teaching K-8) to higher education (Higher Education Management and Policy), from vocational education (Techniques) to independent schools (Conference & Common Room) and distance learning (Mailbox Teacher). In addition to its core relevance to research in the history of education, this newly-accessible content will open up fresh opportunities for research in numerous other fields, including social history, childhood studies, psychology, sociology, and politics. Every issue of each title, from the first through to 2015, is scanned in color, with fully searchable text. All articles are separately indexed to allow for easy searching and navigability. The default coverage is from volume 1, issue 1, through to a termination point of 2015. Content is digitized in full color (where color was present in the original) and articles are individually indexed to allow for easy searching and navigability. Our policy is to include each issue from the first through to 2015 and to scan from cover to cover. Due to the rarity of some of the original print volumes, however, there are small gaps (issues or pages) in the runs of some publications.
