August 1 - Dr. Linda P. Brady became the 10th chancellor of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She came to UNCG from the University of Oregon, where she was senior vice president and provost.

Nelson Bobb, Director of Athletics at UNCG, was named Athletic Director of the Year for the Southeast Division I Conference by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Convention in Dallas, Texas.
