Student "Carpenterettes" cleared a tract of land at the north end of College Avenue near the entrance to Peabody Park and built the YWCA Hut. The hut remained in use until the structure was razed in the 1940's.
Student "Farmerettes" grew vegetables over the summer on a farm leased by the College as a contribution to the World War I effort.
The Dikean Literary Society was founded. The name comes from Dike (Justice), one of the three Hoare - or goddesses of the seasons in Greek mythology.
