Shaw Residence Hall opened. It was named in 1921 for Anna Howard Shaw, an advocate for women's suffrage and the 1919 commencement speaker.

Students registered at college polls to petition for women's suffrage.

The College's name was changed to North Carolina College for Women.

The Carolinian (newspaper) and the Coraddi (literary magazine) - both student publications - received their current names. Coraddi was an acronym for the three literary societies: the Cornelian, Adelphian, and Dikean societies.

Ethel Bollinger was appointed the first full-time Alumnae Secretary.

Caps and gowns were first worn by students at commencement.
