Sixty Five by V. S. Reid

Sixty Five, represents one of the first West Indian/Caribbean-birthed literature I was exposed to during my growing up in the Jamaican educational system. It's a story told through the eyes of a 12 year old, (my age when I read the book)who witnessed the 1865 rebellion led by national hero, Paul Bogle, in a town called Morant Bay. The account of the rebellion was vivid and each time I've visited this site of my own family history I can still feel myself being transported to the climate and atmosphere of the day Paul Bogel led his poverty stricken but hopeful and brave congregants to fight for freedom.
