The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang
Shortly after The Rape of Nanking was published in 1997, its author, Iris Chang, was invited to give a speech at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., a very fitting place for the speech on the Nanking Massacre, which is often referred to as the "forgotten" holocaust of World War II. Given the Japanese government's persistent denial and lack of contrition of this and many other atrocities committed during the war, this book continues to play an important role in keeping these crimes against humanity from oblivion.
