I found this book in my parents library and as a child I would spend hours pouring over the pages. This book opened my eyes to unique and different sports that I never ever heard of (skittles, rounders, etc.) This book also really started my interest in learning more and more about sport and athletics beyond just the teams and the score. I don't know if it was the spark for my career in athletic training, but it certainly helped. I remember using this book many years later when I first started working as an athletic trainer. I was working with some unusual sports and this book helped me better understand the sports and the athletes I was working with and treating. This book may not be the academic challenge of other books, but for me, it was the first book I can remember falling asleep on while reading.
