Lumberjanes features strong women and girls, a diverse group coming together to achieve a common goal, friendship overcoming obstacles, and, yes, battles against three-eyed foxes and other awesome supernatural creatures. The stories are rife with references to prominent feminist scholars and women of historical importance -- as well as mythical monsters. It's a series that I wish existed when I was a young girl, but also one that I'm so happy I get to read as an adult. The Lumberjanes series stands as a reminder of the necessity of friendship, creativity, and inclusiveness in overcoming obstacles.
